Hey, don't be embarrassed, we all have our kinks and fetishes. Some people like to suck toes, some like glory holes, and some like it rough with some pain. Whatever gets you off (as long as it's not hurting anyone else or illegal) do it! I'm sure your wife has some sexual secret she hasn't shared for fear of embarrassment, so maybe by being the first one to open up it may lead to your sexual revolution. And if she seems disturbed or freaked out a bit by it, give her a minute. She just has to adjust to the idea.
Now, as far as taking blows to the groin, there is a matter of safety issues there. I'm not really experienced in this (except as a self-defense move) but you definitely want to make sure that you do not rupture anything, as this is a major medical issue.
