Unfortunately we decided over two years ago that we no longer do direct email Q&A.

First and foremost this decision came because we were receiving dozens upon dozens of emails a day and there's absolutely no way to respond to all of them. Email is simply not a good medium for such a conversation.

To better serve our readers - and to ensure that everyone has a much, much better chance of actually getting help for their problem - we created this community where you can get help from many more people than just us.

And there's another great benefit to asking your question in the forums: once there's a solution to your problem (anonymously) many others who have the same problem may find help by reading the question and answer here in the Forums.

We definitely understand your concern, but keep in mind that the Forums are completely anonymous - in that your name or email is never shown anywhere. you just sign up with a login ID (whatever you choose) and you ask your questions and participate in the conversation.

I see your perspective, but direct email is a model that isn't sustainable.

Unfortunately it's the model most advice columns (i.e. in newspapers) use - people mail in their question and 99.9% will never hear back. We feel that's, well, lacking so we chose to do things a little differently - to ensure that most people have a good chance at getting help.

Since you already created an account, we encourage you to post your question in the appropriate section in the Forums - and then try to join in some other conversations, maybe try to help someone else with something.

You may just find that making a connection with a few people is personal after all.
