He Can't Get Hard, He says there is a connection between us which fixed that problem, but it's back?

Recently I've been seeing this guy and we've become intimately close. I'm 22 years old and was a virgin before I met him and felt comfortable enough giving myself to him. We've been intimate for about a month now. However, at the start of our intimacy he had occasional issues of getting and maintaining an erection. We spoke a few days ago about that and he said that was the result of him not sensing any connection with me (I know that we might have had sex a little too early in our relationship). However, he said, that as he got to know me better that has helped fix his problem. The problem is, last night we tried to make love again and he couldn't get an erection. What does this mean? I'm afraid it might mean that he no longer senses that connection that he said helped cure his problem initially.
