How can I get her back?

I am 18 and have only had one girlfriend. I met her a year ago and we started dating 2 weeks after we met. I had been lonely for a long time and being with her made me happier than i can ever remember being. But I went too far too fast and we broke up 2 months later. She said she still wanted to be friends and now almost 8 months after the break up, we are now much friendlier than we were when we were dating. I think the only reason she broke up with me is because I went too fast with our relationship and scared her. Even after all this time I really love her and want her back. We are very close friends but I cannot tell if she likes me romantically anymore. Looking back on it I can tell that she was right about how far I took it. I was obsessive, jealous, and constantly all over her. I know that I could control myself if we got back together but I don't want to risk asking her for fear of creating awkwardness if she does not return my feelings. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

As I learned a long time ago, once it's over, it's over...if she didn't want to move on she would have made every rationalization in the book to stay. But as it turns out, that was not the case. Unless she's visibly flirting or hinting around, it sounds like she sees you as a friend now, and as many experienced guys will tell you, you don't easily get out of "friend zone" once you're her buddy.

Would a salesman be spending better time going after someone who won't give them the time of day, or someone who shows a hint of interest in what they're selling? Exactly the same here. There are more women out there - and one of them might be dying for a little flirt or attention from you. You admit to your faults which lead to the first relationship dissolving, now take that knowledge to better yourself and sweep someone new off their feet. ;)
