I think to answer that, you're going to have to define "sex." That could mean only intercourse or any form of sexual gratification. I'm going to bet he's not sure what that definition is. it really depends on what type of bdsm you're talking about. different roleplay situations can allow oral sex or hand jobs or things like that. most roleplaying situations can be very statisfying without sex.

I think a lot of this depends on what you are into BDSM for. If it is for sexual gratification then the answer is obvious. However if it is for control and power exchange then sex is not necessary . You can use the person as a house slave perhaps ordering them to do certain things they normally wouldn't do. This allows them to feel your power without sex, it also allows for you to have that sense of control and the rush from receiving another persons power.
