Im not sure about the sin part but most people are strongly into there religion that they to want to go agaisnt there beliefs. Masterbation is you're own private life unless u want to share it with those close to you. What ever that you do with you're life IS you're life and dont let jugedment effect you.

To many Christians it is. To many it is not. My understanding is that masturbation is not a sin
You will find that in the Christian faith there are many groups that hold to all kinds of things.
Some believe in water baptism, some don’t
Some believe in speaking in tongues, some don’t
Some believe a woman can preach, some don’t….
I could go on and on for pages like this.
If you’re researching it look up the sin of Onan in Genesis 38 and read the story in context and come to your own conclusion. Good luck!
