I sat on my couch rubbing my face, smelling hands flowered with the scent of fresh strawberries and dill weed from the garden. I brought in the mail earlier but hadn't looked through it for fear of seeing more bills I cannot pay. But instead I found the new issue of
Psychology Today. Maybe I'm weird, but even though this isn't my profession I find human psychology quite interesting. The front cover was quite inticing, a lovely blonde woman with a leather bustier, long arm gloves, and thigh-high boots, all in black with large purple lettering across her midruff "Twisted?" With a quick turn of the pages to an article by Kathleen McGowan, "Typically Twisted" I began enjoying an interesting and thought-provoking piece."Taboo impulses can be titillating...but more often they're a source of concern for those who harbor secret wishes or unusual desires. If you prefer gallows humor to slapstick or kinky to vanilla, take heart: Dark inclinations have their own logic and benefits." OK, so now I'm intrigued. It goes on to say that being "normal" is really special, because "normality" is truly you being different, having your own traits that make you you. There are other topics besides sexuality in this column, but the ones that drew my attention were #3 and #4.
#3 Says, basically, some people actually have
no sex drive. It's not really a problem unless they feel it is, but they just do not have the sexual feelings most people have. Don't worry, only about 1% of the population has this asexual behavior, (according to one survey).
#4 is the fun one... "Quirky, Kinky, or Creepy? I have unusual sexual fantasies."
OK, here's the fun part, one international survey found that 20% of adults claim to have experimented with masks, blindfolds, and other bondage stuff, and 35% have had anal sex (males and females).
This is mostly in response to people who have a fetish and are worried they are odd or weird. This article explains that, "a practice that is harmful, exploitative, or dangerous, such as pedophilia, or public flashing--is deemed abnormal." However, if you're not hurting anyone or putting anyone in danger, or going against laws (excluding unjust laws such as
Georgia's female genital piercing law) you're probably not a sexual freak. Any sexual practice that may be unusual is probably harmless, unless it's the
only thing that gets you turned on.
So, there you go, guys with shoe and/or foot fetishes who've inquired about this... and anyone else harboring a sexual fantasy or fetish you've not yet let out, there's your answer. You're probably OK. :)
