Unusual maybe? the only question is whether you trust each other and are enjoying it. Maybe more unusual if your lover is male, since you'd expect that he'd want to have some sort of penile sex. My gut instinct tells me though this person is a guy who's lover is a gal, and is needing some reassurance and validation.
