Truthfully there really isn’t an etiquette here it really depends on the couples involved. Personally if my wife and the partner she is playing with finishes before me and the person I am playing with, I don’t care what they do. They can keep going, go for a snack, or watch my name is earl on television. I am probably busy so my only concern is that they are doing what they want. I certainly don’t want them to keep going when it’s 1:00 am and they are tired our just because me and the person I am playing with isn’t finished yet. I don’t really think we have run into anyone who would have been upset about ½ the party finishing first and going off and grabbing a snack.

The only real issue is if it will bother one of the people involved to have their partner in another room. Now that may be an issue and one you really should know before getting into play. There’s nothing wrong with asking what they prefer.. So far as I know most swingers possess very little mind reading capabilities so asking is generally recommended and ok.

Nothing wrong at all with your answer - asking and being open is the ONLY way to go. We have simply found that playing together and not "separating" for too long is the way we handle it.
