So, let's recap -
Skydiving: Check.
Video game testing job: Check.
Bungee jumping: Planned for my birthday (June 9th.)
1,500 mile Cross-country bicycle trip: This summer. It awaits.
Am I mad? I... I want to do this now. It's not something you can do out of the blue though, is it? I've just spent the past hour looking over Yahoo! maps, the number of cities, parks, towns and other sites I'd see on the way down, it's fucking monumental. First New York, than West Virginia going to see my grandparents. Kentucky, to see a friend.. and finally arriving in Durham, North Carolina. Everything along the way is going to be just as marvelous as the destination. Truly, this journey will be my reason for departing, not reaching the end.
At 15/mph, biking for 8 hours a day, it will take me 12.5 days to reach my destination. Of course, that's a rough estimate, with the paths never truly being in a straight line, and other unforeseeable circumstances like the weather, it could take three weeks or even a month.
So folks, give me ideas... maybe some support. I'm brave, but this is pretty wild even for me. I'll need a new bike... a GPS unit that can be securely hooked to my bike and last for 8 hours a day until it needs to be recharged. Waterproof, yes.
I also figure that considering I'm not quite rich, I can't afford to stay in a motel every night, but it's going to be during the summer so fuck it, I'll just crash outside.
You know, I'm already in shape, but this is going to lower my body fat % down to epic levels. I'm so fucking excited, but terrified. :D
