Ok, I am not a sex addict, but how in the world are there soo many sex addicts. Simply put: celebrities, and the like are called sex addicts. What is sex addiction, and is it life threatning. As I have read it seems that more man are sex addicts is this because they have more testosterone, or hormones that cause emotions and feelings that lead to sex addiction. But is it just a phrase or is it really a condition. Also what about women?? Can women be sex addicted?? I would really like to hear what you all have to say. Thanx. Philly One...
As for what you see on TV about celebrities being "sex addicts" or whatever to that effect, take it with bags and bags of salt. I only say this because we've experienced it ourselves in our own dealings with TV and other media; sensationalism sells, and often you'll see things that are blatantly untrue published. For celebrities media is a love hate relationship. The exposure from the media is golden for them, and for us for example it allows us to spread our message to an even larger audience, and that's great. but on the flip side, you never know just how an interview will end up by the time it's been through the editing chop shop.
All that said, back to the core of your question - addiction. Yes, any human can suffer from addiction: men and women equally. Even sex addiction.
You can be addicted to sex, masturbation, eating, etc. An addiction is harmful when it adversely impacts your life, i.e. you feel like you have to do it all the time and it negatively impacts the way you live, your relationships, your finances, etc.
Don't let sensationalism on TV worry you. Most people do NOT have addiction problems.
In fact I found it quite amusing to see media everywhere pick up on a story aobut David Duchovny checking into a rehab clinic for sex addiction a few months ago, just as the 2nd season of his new TV show Californication was kicking off. Couldn't ask for better publicity, no amount of advertising dollars will cover that.

I totally get what your saying. So sex addiction is just like any other addiction. The videos were very helpful. I really got alot out of it. Thanx. Also I too heard the David Dukovni thing, I thought it was all a bunch of hoopla. You really got to the heart of my question which was what I was hoping for. I guess sex addiction can be like any addiction and no worries about it. Never thought it was such a problem just thought that it was odd how you hear about it everytime you see it on the telly.
