what's up with the online dating sites.

I guess I'm too cheap to pay to be a member but it really pisses me off how they treat even non members. All you have to do is go to that site and even if you do nothing you get email saying this member is interested in you when in fact they just clicked on an email they sent. And they are saying you have flirts and messages from interested members that want to hear from you. My take on this is there are ladies out there interested then let me hear from them first. Then I will make the decision to join. I'm just really po'ed about it. So what does one do?

So you admit that you are cheap and you insist that someone contact YOU if they are interested rather than you contacting them. Maybe this explains why you are resorting to a dating site??

If you want a relationship then you'll make some investment towards obtaining it. This probably means both financial and emotional. Spend a little money on the site or the date. Make an effort. You didn't say anything that makes you seem attractive or interesting as a prospective partner.

If you can't do that then maybe it isn't as important as you say.

This may sound harsh but your message explains a lot.

Yeah... dating sites don't work that way. I can think of two sites when you say flirts (AFF or True). With both of them, don't be a non-member and expect serious people to contact you first. It really doesn't work that way. Just like the dating scene, you have to show interest and invest emotionally (which usually translates into money).

AFF I don't think it matters, really. It's just sex and you're lucky if you find a committed relationship on there. It's a beauty when it happens though! :D

For True, people are on there FOR relationships, not just a booty call. With the flirts, they send out random stuff to people they match you with. So really, the ladies sending you flirts or those generated messages probably aren't interested, those are just required to complete the profile. But seriously, on sites specifically for dating (not just sex) you should show some initiative and pay up.

I paid $80AUS to a site (this was ages ago! ha) so I could contact the ladies if I needed too. The money allowed me to contact about 22 different people.

At the time I thought this was super expensive (and really, it kinda is) however if you go out looking for a date then you can spend that much money rather easily and still end up at home alone.

Considering the money lasted a number of months, in the end I did find someone and that lasted a year. Not bad for $80.

We are still friends by the way. Great girl. :cool:

Stick with the popular sites that are recommended by real people. There are far too many sites with fake members.
