Why are men turned on by bare breasts?

Why is it that men are turned on by the sight of breasts? Is there an evolutionary reason for it? It makes sense that men would get aroused by seeing a woman's vagina/vulva/labia (whatever the correct term is lol) or at least her pubic region, but why are they turned on by breasts as well?

I can't speak for all men but when I see a woman's breasts (but not all women, just the ones who look hot and have nice nice looking breasts) I get thoughts of wanting to grab them and suck on them. But that's just me.

Yes! Breasts are a source of nutrition for infants, so it is a basic instinct to want to suck on them. Just hold a baby, a puppy or a kitten up to your chest and watch them instinctively try to suck your nipples.

So you're saying that men are turned on by breasts because it reminds them of when they were infants when they would suck on their mother's breasts?

Partially. According to Dr. Freud, boys also have Oedipal complexes, which means they fall in love with and are physically attracted to their mothers. So putting both of those things together makes men love breasts even more.

Many of us in the world have sucked on our mother's breasts as an infant, obviously that includes both male and female babies. Of course there are those of us out there who haven't for various reasons (e.g. mom dies after giving birth, the baby never knew his/her mother, etc.). I don't think there is anything weird about the thought of getting turned on by breasts, but once again, that's just me. I also don't think it's a secret that women tend to play with their own breasts so it's not like it's just limited to males only.

I would have thought that the reason men are turned on by breasts is because it is a sign of fertility or something like that.

Because we're Men.
Because developed breasts are exclusive to the opposite sex and opposites attract in heterosexuals.
Anything that tends to be an exclusively- female trait serves as a trigger or turn-on for me.
Thicker nipples, Larger areola, developed breasts(small or large), vulva, larger hips, small waist, hourglass figure, body fat distribution, luxurious hair, higher pitched voice, smell, etc. :P

Actually to be totally honest, I find a lot of Freud's concepts on sexual psychology to be flawed. For example, if he is to be believed, then the basis for ALL female heterosexual desire is based on penis envy (IE: Them not having one, thus wanting the man's penis to "complete them"). There are many psychologists since Freud who, while recognizing his important role in bringing up these topics, consider most of them outdated and not entirely correct.

While there is such things as Oedipal Complexes though, I doubt that that is the fundamental reasoning for men's attraction to breasts.

I think it's different for each man, because there's a wide difference in the type of breasts preferred by each man, some like real, some like fake, some like HUGE some like tiny, and every other conceivable variation within.

If you examine it from basic instinctual desire though, it most likely has to do with fertility. Certain keynote parts of a woman's anatomy suggests them to be more fertile (whether or not this is actually the case). Larger hips and large breasts being among the top of these indicators. Thus in the instinctual part of a man's mind, it's not that the breasts remind him of his desire to suckle as an infant (although for some this may be the case) but more importantly signifies that the woman is "well equipped" to feed any offspring she has with the male. Thus it's a basic instinctual response for males to be "turned on" by female breasts because they symbolize fertility.

Also in following that logic, wider hips generally cause larger or at least "curvier" backsides, there-in explaining why most men love their T&A!

That is a good question, I think it depends on each guy. I'm personally attracted to the shape and the contributions breasts give to a woman's overall figure, but that is from a distance. It may have more effect on men when they are able to be in physical contact with them.
